Submitted by Marla Ferguson, Grand Junction, Colorado: coal mining
I made my Earth Exchange on land that was originally owned by a coal miner. He lived on the land and walked to the mine each day to make a living. My RadJoy bird was made from branches of peach trees that thrive in an orchard on that land now. In the background are solar panels that provide electricity to the house and farm. A new and better way of providing needed energy from the Sun. The RadJoy bird honors both the sadness in coal mining and the joy in using the natural power of the Sun.
