We gathered at the Jack Madigan Reserve to celebrate its beauty after it was successfully remediated. The Reserve was previously a contaminated hole in the ground, after its use as a dumping ground for chemicals and rubbish. At a 2013 GEx event, the community successfully lobbied the local Council to mend the land and over the next 3 years, it was turned into a small and beautiful park land. At GEx 2016, community members gathered and talked about how the Council had consulted with local residents and reflected their ideas in designing the Reserve. They planted native trees and bushes and made natural play areas for children. We all agreed that we were thrilled with the outcome and enjoy walking and playing on our new Reserve.
