Radical Joy for Hard Times

Radical Joy for Hard Times introduces a new, more intimate environmentalism for all citizens of the Earth. Together we go to wounded places to share the stories of our experience; acknowledge our love for the places that are important to us, even though they are under assault; and create simple acts of beauty there. On June 19, 2010, people found and made beauty at broken places on all the seven continents of the Earth. Here are some of the photos of what happened.

What is an Earth Exchange?

An Earth Exchange can be many things. You and a few friends might visit a wounded place and blow bubbles and sing songs. You might go alone and pray. You might burn some sage or incense and smudge a wounded place in a simple ceremony of healing. You might go dance. You might take pictures of the life living there, and post them as an affirmation. The possibilities are endless, and they aren't all about being solemn. Beauty and joy in the face of destruction are radical acts!
